McCarthy’s Dominant Performance

Jake McCarthy was the offensive engine for the Colorado Rockies, delivering a two-home run performance that helped secure a 15-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants. Playing at Coors Field, McCarthy provided immediate offense in the first inning when he launched a 440-foot home run to right center. He added to his tally in the fifth inning, hitting a 427-foot shot to right center that plated three additional runners. In total, McCarthy drove in six runs and contributed two hits, including the two long balls that shifted the momentum early in the game.

Early Scoring Surge

The Rockies established control in the top of the first inning, capitalizing on Giants starter Logan Webb’s struggles. After McCarthy’s opener, the Rockies continued to apply pressure. Moniak scored on a walk by Carrigg, followed by a run on a groundout by Freeman that saw Goodman cross the plate. The scoring continued into the second inning when Tovar homered to right center, a 392-foot blast that brought two runs across the plate and extended the lead to 5-0.

The Giants managed to get on the board in the third inning when Arraez scored on a Schmitt single. However, Colorado responded immediately in the same frame. Julien crossed the plate on a fielder’s choice, and McCarthy singled to right to bring Julien home, pushing the score to 7-1. The Rockies added another run in the fourth inning when Lee scored on an Eldridge single to right field.

Fifth Inning Explosion

The game’s decisive blow came in the fifth inning, where the Rockies erupted for six runs. McCarthy’s second home run started the rally, and the offense did not stop there. Carrigg tripled to center, driving in two more runs, before Freeman singled to center to score Carrigg, making it 14-2. The Giants attempted to rally in the sixth inning when Devers homered to right, a 432-foot shot that made the score 14-3. Colorado added an insurance run in the eighth inning when Karros scored on a sacrifice fly by Tovar to center.

Pitching Decisions and Final Notes

Logan Webb took the loss for the Giants, allowing seven earned runs on 11 hits over 3.0 innings. He was relieved by Matt Gage, who gave up six earned runs in 1.1 innings. Ryan Walker and JT Brubaker also pitched for San Francisco, with Walker allowing one earned run and Brubaker surrendering one run.

For the Rockies, Ryan Feltner earned the win, pitching 6.0 innings with only two earned runs allowed and striking out nine batters. Gabriel Hughes closed out the game with 3.0 scoreless innings, earning the save. The final attendance at Coors Field was 47,655. The Rockies improved to 36-53, while the Giants fell to 36-51.
