The Los Angeles Rams are cautiously managing the recovery of edge rusher Myles Garrett and wide receiver Puka Nacua. Garrett has not participated in practice since last Monday due to swelling in his knee, while Nacua sustained a groin injury during a joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys.
Initially, head coach Sean McVay suggested Nacua might return this week, but the team is opting to hold him out for now.
"Puka is doing good. Whether or not we wait for next week or not, we're just taking it a day at a time," McVay stated. He indicated that Garrett is also expected to return next week, but the team is prioritizing their health over immediate participation.
The Rams have been cautious with their veterans throughout training camp, alternating practice days for quarterback Matthew Stafford and allowing rest days for other players.
McVay emphasized the importance of ensuring both players are fully healthy before they return to practice, especially with the regular season still over three weeks away. He noted, "It gets to a point where we need our guys out there to be able to practice, to get ready to simulate what's going to be a great, long, challenging season."
